ポイント

Spreading depressionは脳局所の神経細胞やグリア細胞に起こる脱分極とその後の機能抑制で，約2～3mm/分の速さで周囲に伝播し，片頭痛の前兆に関与すると考えられている．

片頭痛の病態にspreading depressionの関与を考慮する説は神経説と呼ばれている．

Spreading depressionは三叉神経系を活性化し頭痛発作に関与するともいわれているが，まだ結論は得られていない．
