ポイント

●睡眠時無呼吸症候群(SAS)は，無呼吸-低呼吸指数(AHI)が5以上の睡眠呼吸障害(SDB)に日中傾眠，倦怠感などの自覚症状を伴うときに診断される．

●症状の有無にかかわらず，AHI15以上でSASとする新しい診断基準が提示された．

●低呼吸は3～4％以上の酸素飽和度の低下か，脳波上の覚醒反応を伴うイベントのみを採用するべきである．

●AHI5以上のSDBは30歳以上の男性の24.0％，女性の9.0％に認められる．

●AHI5以上のSASは30歳以上の男性の4％，女性の2％に認められる．

●AHI30以上のSASは，心血管イベントやそれによる死亡のリスクを約3倍に高め，経鼻持続陽圧呼吸療法(nCPAP)によりそのリスクは回避される．
