大脳白質

文献概要

　大脳白質は有髄線維を多く含むため，肉眼的に皮質と比べて白くみえる．CTやMRIで観察すると，一見均質な左右対称性の単純な構造にみえるかもしれないが，解剖学的には神経線維の束が交錯し合った複雑な形態をしている．その大まかな構造を知っておくことは，画像診断においてきわめて重要である．また，白質は脳の容積のかなりの部分を占めており，さまざまな疾患が生じることが知られている．

　本稿では，白質の種類や解剖を中心に概説を行う．
