★糖尿病は心筋梗塞・脳卒中の危険因子である．

★心血管リスクの低減のためには，早期・軽症のうちから積極的に厳格血糖コントロールを図る．

★厳格血糖コントロールとは，単なるHbA1cの低下を意味するのではない．

★進行した動脈硬化がある場合には，低血糖の防止に注意する．

★β細胞の保護を考えた治療を選択する．

★生活習慣の改善を柱に血糖・血圧・脂質に対する統合的治療を行う．
