ポイント

★ESS（Epworth sleepiness scale）は日中の眠気を測定する主観的尺度であり，臨床で最もよく使用されているものである．

★ESSの日本語版であるJESSは，原作者との協議により測定概念が確認されており，信頼性・妥当性が検証されている．

★主観的な尺度を用いて日中の過度な眠気（EDS）を評価する際には，回答バイアスや過大評価，過小評価といった問題を最小限にする配慮や慎重な結果の解釈が必要である．
