文献概要

　性腺で産生されるステロイドホルモンを性ステロイドホルモンと総称する．エストロゲンはプロゲステロン，アンドロゲンとともにその主体をなす．これらの性ステロイドホルモンは1930年代に純化に成功し，化学構造が解明され，かつ同じ作用をもつ製剤が人工的に合成された．現在では女性疾患の治療において不可欠な製剤となっている．
