Point
◎歯周病は，口腔内の細菌感染により生じる慢性炎症疾患であり，無症状であることが多く，罹患率がきわめて高い疾患である．
◎2型糖尿病や虚血性心疾患では，歯周病治療により疾患の状態や発症率に変化があったという報告がある．
◎米国では，疾患予防のために定期的に歯科医院に通院する習慣がある．
◎歯周病を予知するためのインターロイキン（IL）-1遺伝子型を調べる遺伝子検査が商品化されているが，精度の向上が必要である．
