Point
◎COPDや間質性肺炎（特に特発性肺線維症）はともに進行性で予後不良の疾患であるが，一般的な認知度が低く，医療者と患者・家族の間で疾患経過に関する認識の差が大きくなりやすい．
◎COPDと間質性肺炎はともに「急性増悪」をきたし，急激な経過で終末期に移行することがある．
◎予後不良因子を把握し，予想される大まかな自然経過と急性増悪についての共通理解を構築していく必要がある．
◎慢性呼吸器疾患の終末期における呼吸困難に対し，モルヒネ製剤や鎮静薬が症状を緩和しうる．
◎障害者医療費助成制度や難病医療費助成の申請も忘れずに行う．
