Point
◎喘息の治療目標は，症状コントロール（気道炎症の制御，正常な呼吸機能の維持）と将来のリスク回避（喘息死・増悪の防止，呼吸機能の経年低下抑制，治療薬の副作用発現回避，健康寿命の維持）である．
◎薬剤治療のみならず，感作アレルゲンやその他の増悪因子の回避，吸入手技の指導やアドヒアランスの管理，併存症の管理も重要である．
◎吸入ステロイド薬（ICS）を中心に，重症度（症状）に応じてICSを増量しながら長時間作用性β₂刺激薬（LABA；ICSとの配合剤）や，さらに長時間作用性抗コリン薬（LAMA；トリプル製剤使用可能），ロイコトリエン受容体拮抗薬（LTRA），テオフィリン徐放製剤を併用していく（stepwise approach）．
◎難治性喘息と判断されたら生物学的製剤を検討する．2型炎症を有するtype 2喘息はよい適応である．併存疾患への効果による喘息への相乗効果も考慮する．
