てんかん診療の新時代

Ⅰ．はじめに

　てんかんの有病率は約1％で，わが国に約100万人の患者がいると考えられており，脳神経領域における“common disease”の1つである．しかし，わが国のてんかん診療は残念ながら欧米各国と比べ明らかに遅れをとっている．近年ようやくこれらの遅れを取り戻す動きがみられている．本稿では，ここ数年のわが国におけるてんかん診療をめぐる進歩として，①長時間ビデオ脳波モニタリング検査，②新規抗てんかん薬，③切除術以外の外科治療について取り上げる．
