　近年，高齢化社会の到来に伴い，脳神経外科医が脊椎脊髄疾患を診療する機会も増えてきた．神経疾患の治療に従事する脳神経外科医にとって，脊髄の神経症状を扱うことに関しては受容しやすいものであるが，運動器である脊椎を扱うことに関しては違和感を抱くものも少なくない．

　脊椎脊髄疾患を画像で評価するためには，骨の情報（脊椎），神経の情報（脊髄），さらには動きに伴う両者への影響について知る必要がある．本稿では，脊椎脊髄疾患を評価するための各種画像診断法の基礎知識について解説する．
