肺炎球菌ワクチン

■肺炎球菌ワクチンとは

　肺炎球菌ワクチンは，細菌感染症を予防できる数少ないワクチンである．肺炎球菌ワクチンには2歳未満でも有効な7価の多糖体-蛋白結合型ワクチン(pneumococcal conjugate vaccine，PCV：プレベナー^®)と2歳以上の成人に用いる23価肺炎球菌莢膜ポリサッカライドワクチン(pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine，PPV：ニューモバックス^®NP)がある．PCVは主に小児の髄膜炎の予防に有用で，わが国では2010年2月24日に発売された．本稿では成人に用いるPPVについて主に解説する．
