コンパニオン診断薬とは

はじめに

　2003年にヒトゲノムの塩基配列が解読され，患者個人のゲノム情報を活用して安全で有効な医療を実現する個別化医療の時代が渇望されている．病名に基づく治療法の選択から，バイオマーカー検査により患者を層別化し，安全かつ有効な治療を選択する個別化医療の時代が始まった．病気の原因や病態が分子レベルで解明され，分子変化・異常を検査する方法（コンパニオン診断）とそれらの分子変化・異常を標的とする分子標的薬の一体化開発が，個別化医療の推進役として期待されている．

　本稿では，「コンパニオン診断薬とは」と題して，コンパニオン診断とその背景，そして医薬品開発におけるバイオマーカーの意義とコンパニオン診断薬との関係などについて述べる．
