Q　癌細胞はなぜ腫瘍マーカー分子を産生するのですか？

A　とても根源的で，非常に意味深く挑戦的な疑問です．腫瘍マーカーの臨床的意義はすでに確立されたものですが，腫瘍マーカー分子が単に癌の進展に応じて出現・増加する生体成分なのか？　それとも癌細胞にとって合目的な役割を担う機能分子なのか？　という疑問は，これまで十分に明らかにされてこなかった一大命題といえるかもしれません．
