Staphylococcus argenteusとStaphylococcus schweitzeri

はじめに

　Staphylococcus argenteusおよびStaphylococcus schweitzeriは2015年にStaphylococcus aureusから新たに分類された菌種であり，集落やその他の性状がS. aureusに極めて類似している^1）．両新菌種は，近年目覚ましい発展を遂げているゲノムワイドな研究によって，S. aureusと異なる新たな菌種として報告された．S. argenteusは，2006年にオーストラリアの先住民であるアボリジニから分離された白色の集落を形成するS. aureusとして最初に報告されたものが始まりである^2）．S. argenteusは非常に小さなアクセサリーゲノムを有することから，S. aureusの祖先に相当する可能性も示唆されている．S. schweitzeriは，2011年にアフリカのコウモリとサルから分離されたS. aureusがS. schweitzeriの最初の報告であるとされている^3）．本稿では，ヒトからの分離頻度が比較的高いといわれているS. argenteusを中心に，これまでに報告されている疫学情報，病原性，鑑別方法および報告方法などについて概説する．
