　がんの患者や体験者が，各種の相補・代替療法(以下，代替療法と略す)を使用している．代替療法の有効性と安全性に関する関心も高まっている．本稿では，がんの代替療法に関する研究状況を概観する．第一に，2002年ハーバード大学のグループが公表したシステマティック・レビューの結果を示す．第二に，がんの食事療法に関する2006年のメタ分析を紹介する．最後に，2007年11月世界がん研究基金が公表した食物・栄養・運動とがん予防に関する報告書の判定を示す．
