　社員と職工の階級的差別は実に甚い．一例をここに挙げるならば工場には数番の電話が取ってあってそのいずれもが何時でも公用で塞がっている訳ではない．…職工はどんな急用の場合でも断じてその使用を許されることがない．…いずれの工場へ行っても，女工は十年おっても二十年おっても依然として女工以上の待遇へ登れない…女給仕が傭員待遇で毎半期の賞与を五十円から百円までくらい貰うのに対して，女工は十円か二十円しか貰えない．…「働く者貧乏，貧すりゃドンする」という諺は実にうがっている(『女工哀史』¹⁾52～53頁)．
