はじめに

　2011年3月11日の東日本大震災のような大地震はこれまで，インドネシア，中国大陸，さらにハイチなど，世界各地で発生している．NPO法人日本リザルツ(以下，当団体)では，昨年1月のハイチ大地震被さい地で，結核医療について調査を行い，募金などを通じても積極的に支援活動を行っている．今回の東日本大震災発生直後は，被さい地へ足を運び，東北とハイチへの支援のあり方を公的機関等に提案し活動してきた．

　なお，当団体の調査から「被さい」の字の表記に関して，被さいした多くの人が漢字の「被災」という二文字を見る度に津波を思い出すことや，常に「被災者」と呼ばれることが苦痛であるという声が多いことがわかった．このため当団体では，障がい者の「がい」の字をひらがなで表記しているのと同様，被さい者の「さい」の字をひらがなで表記することにしている．
