天然痘テロは起こるか？

はじめに

　WHOの天然痘根絶成功は，残念ながら，永遠に続くかどうか楽観視できないという見方も出てきた．最近の世界各地で起こっている政治紛争，天然痘ウイルスは合成できるという予測，テロリストが未報告の天然痘ウイルスを兵器として使用するかもしれないという憂慮など，このように，天然痘はまた大きな社会医学の問題となりつつある．いずれにしろ，これに対する的確な処理は，今後の人類の生存という点から見ても大切な課題である．テロが起こる確率は低いであろうが，もし起こればその被害は人類生存の危機となるかもしれない．ではどのようにすればよいか．本稿では世界的対策を述べる．
