結核，COPDの世界の現状—求められる個別疾患対策を超えたアプローチ

　世界保健機関(WHO)本部(写真1)では定期的にテーマ展示がなされていますが，この秋のテーマは大気汚染です(写真2)．メインロビーでのエボラ対策に貢献する医療スタッフを称える特設写真展と並び，「きれいな空気を吸いたい」が呼びかけられています．中国やインドの都市の大気汚染は，しばしばマスコミでも取り上げられていますが，この8月の北京における世界陸上の際のマラソン中継では驚くほど美しい青空が見られました．さまざまな健康問題の解決には，政治的な強い意志が必要なことの象徴とも思えます．
　本稿では，2015年までの国連開発目標関連課題である結核対策に携わった呼吸器科医の視点から，開発途上国におけるCOPD(慢性閉塞性肺疾患)の課題を考えてみます．
