西アフリカにおけるエボラ出血熱の流行

　エボラ出血熱(Ebola virus disease;EVD)は，1976年に現在の南スーダンとコンゴ民主共和国で見いだされた致死率の高い新興ウイルス感染症である¹⁾．病原体のエボラウイルスは，マールブルグウイルスと共にフィロウイルス科に分類され，コウモリが自然宿主と考えられている．これまでにアフリカ中央部を中心に流行が散発してきたが，いずれも患者の血液・体液に接触した家族や医療従事者などに感染が拡大するところにこの疾患の特徴がある．2013年12月に始まった西アフリカにおける流行はすでに1年以上を経過し，過去最大規模となっている²⁾．世界保健機関(WHO)による現地支援に従事した経験を交えて，これまでの流行の経過を振り返ることとしたい．
