緑内障の現状と対策

はじめに
　緑内障はヒポクラテスの時代から知られた歴史の長い眼疾患である．特にわが国においては視覚障害原因の第一位を占める重要な眼疾患であり¹⁾，緑内障の理解は臨床医のみならず，公衆衛生，保健行政の視点からも重要である．本稿では，緑内障の現状を理解していただくために，その歴史，分類，疫学，診断と治療，公衆衛生的予防措置に関して述べる．
