東京医科歯科大学の健康都市の国際協力研究活動における取り組み

はじめに
　東京医科歯科大学(以下，当大学)は都市環境と健康に関する研究・教育に重点的に取り組んできた．1997年7月にはWHO(World Health Organization)Collaborating Centre for Healthy Cities and Urban Policy Research(健康都市・都市政策研究協力センター)に指定され，活動を開始した．健康都市の評価指標に関する研究，都市の健康決定要因に関する研究，健康格差に関する研究などの一連の研究活動，大都市東京における健康都市政策や活動展開の支援，人材育成の実績を踏まえて，20年以上にわたってWHOと連携した活動を行っている^1)〜4)．
　当大学は，WHO西太平洋地域事務局が企画した専門家会議の勧告に基づいて2004年に創設されたThe Alliance for Healthy Cities(AFHC：健康都市連合)のネットワークについて，WHO協力センターとしてその準備段階から関わっている．設立後は，ネットワーク加盟都市からの要請を受けて事務局を務めており，研究，人材育成，技術支援などを行っている．
