歯科領域における新型たばこの健康影響—加熱式たばこの健康影響の理解のために

はじめに
　本稿では，新型たばこの使用による歯科領域における健康影響に関する知見を紹介する．歯科領域では，たばこ使用による健康影響の研究の歴史が比較的浅く，そのため，現時点では，公衆衛生の専門家にまで十分な専門的知識が普及しているとは言えない．そこで，紙巻きたばこ喫煙による歯科領域の健康影響，および，主に口腔で使用される無煙たばこの影響についても概説する．無煙たばこの使用については，欧州諸国と北米の研究者の間で害の低減の議論が展開された経緯がある．最近，害が小さいと思われがちであった水パイプたばこ喫煙の健康影響について世界保健機関(World Health Organization:WHO)が科学的知見を更新しており¹⁾，歯科領域の健康影響も明らかになっているので，これも紹介する．
　さまざまな種類のたばこの有害物質に歯科領域は最初に曝露される．最近，日本では歯科領域への関心が高まっている．新しいタイプのたばこが流行し始めた日本における今後のたばこ対策について，読者である公衆衛生専門家の方々に知っておいていただきたいことを述べる．歯科領域に表れる多様な新しい健康影響を包括的に捉え，新たな思考と実践に役立てていただければ幸いである．
