春季カタル―IL-4，IL-13の関与と制御の可能性

はじめに

　春季カタルは巨大乳頭の形成や角膜上皮傷害など，他の臓器のアレルギー性疾患にはみられない特徴的な病変がみられ，この疾患が単なる「眼に起こったアレルギー」ではなく眼局所の要因の強く関与した眼疾患であることを示唆している。春季カタルの病態には多くの細胞や分子が関与している。筆者らはこれらのうちTh2サイトカイン^†であるインターロイキン（IL）-4，IL-13に注目している。これら2つのTh2サイトカインは免疫系の細胞に作用してアレルギー炎症の誘導に中心的な役割を果たしているのみならず，角結膜を構成する線維芽細胞にも作用して眼のアレルギーに特徴的な病変の病態に深くかかわっている。
