ルテインサプリメントにより中心暗点が縮小したLeber病の1例

要約　目的：抗酸化サプリメントの内服で視機能が向上したLeber病症例の報告。症例：26歳女性が7年前に両眼の視力低下を発症した。ミトコンドリアDNA14484変異を伴うLeber病と診断された。経過：発症から1年後に左右眼ともに矯正視力が0.02になり，以後視機能は変化しなかった。20か月前からルテインサプリメントの内服を始めた。その2か月後から自覚症状が改善し，現在の矯正視力は右0.03，左0.4になった。中心暗点は縮小し，Humphrey視野計の10-2で中心暗点内に感度がよい領域が現れた。結論：患者が内服したルテインサプリメントには，ルテインのほか多種類の抗酸化物質が含まれている。Leber病に対し抗酸化サプリメントが奏効する可能性がある。
