以前の常識

●アカントアメーバ角膜炎は稀な疾患であり，薬物療法には抗真菌薬を用いる。

現在の常識

●アカントアメーバ角膜炎は，コンタクトレンズ装用者に生じる角膜潰瘍において真っ先に鑑別に挙げるべき疾患になった。

●点眼に用いる薬剤としては，PHMBやクロルヘキシジンなどの消毒薬が中心となり，抗真菌薬は補助的に用いられる。
