緑内障の疫学調査

代表的な緑内障疫学調査

　緑内障疫学調査は通常，データ収集が数年にわたって行われ，その後得られた膨大なデータを整理・解析して論文発表になるまでさらに数年のタイムラグがあるので，5年前と今を的確に比較するのは非常に難しい。あえて分けると，データ収集が行われた時期に着目し，ここ5年の2002～2007年頃（論文化されている最新のスタディはおおよそこの時期に開始されている）と，それ以前の疫学調査に分けることができる。

　10年以上前の代表的な疫学調査にはBeaver Dam Eye Study（1988～1990）^1），Barbados Eye Study（1988～1992）^2），Blue Mountains Eye Study（1992～1994）^3），Rotterdam Study（1990～1993）^4）などが挙げられる。しかし，これらは主に欧米人を対象としたものばかりで，アジアからはこの当時は大規模な報告はインドのAndhra Pradesh Eye Study（1996～2000）^5）くらいであった。
