はじめに

　正確に数えたわけではないのですが，札幌医科大学の神経眼科外来に紹介される患者の約7割は甲状腺眼症だと思います。それらのなかには軽症もあれば重症もあり，さまざまです。この疾患が一般眼科医の手から離れていく最大の要因は，病気の活動性を把握するのが困難なため，患者をどのように扱ってよいのかわからないところにあるのだと思います。そこで甲状腺眼症の客観的な評価法として，CT，MRIによる画像診断があるわけです。

　今回は，眼窩部におけるCT，MRI検査の撮り方，見方のコツも入れつつ，甲状腺眼症の画像診断についてreviewも交えながら述べてみたいと思います。
