患者（ひと）はなぜ緑内障で失明するのか？―失明回避にTSUNAGUために

　緑内障による高度視覚障害を防ぐことは，緑内障診療に携わる者にとってきわめて重要な視点である。岐阜大学眼科のデータによれば，15～25年観察した原発開放隅角緑内障（広義）では手術治療・薬物治療ともに視野保持効果が認められ，特に前者が良好であった。Preperimetric glaucomaでも眼圧の管理が重要であった。手術治療は薬物治療と比べて体位変化に伴う眼圧変動が少なく，これが手術の視野保持効果に関連している可能性がある。また，日本緑内障学会の共同研究から，濾過胞感染による高度視覚障害の頻度を推定した。こうした研究成果と緑内障管理の現状を元に，緑内障による高度視覚障害を回避するための6項目の提言をした。
