網膜疾患患者が本当に困っている見え方

　硝子体手術の進歩や抗血管内皮増殖因子（vascular endothelial growth factor：VEGF）薬の導入により，近年の網膜疾患の治療成績は飛躍的に向上している。そして現在，網膜疾患の治療評価の指標は視力と光干渉断層計（optical coherence tomography：OCT）での網膜形態である。しかし，視力とOCT所見が問題ないレベルにあるにもかかわらず，視力以外での視機能面での不満を愁訴とする患者が増えている。治療の最終目標は患者の視覚の質（quality of vision：QOV）を改善し，quality of life（QOL）を向上させることにある。したがって，われわれはもっと視力以外のQOVに目を向けなければならない。
