●黄斑円孔の前段階として，網膜分離，中心窩剝離が重要であり，黄斑円孔網膜剝離となると円孔閉鎖は難治である。

●上記以外に，黄斑上膜ないしは網膜分離を合併し，分層黄斑円孔を経て，全層円孔に進展する病型も存在する。

●強度近視眼における手術では，術後黄斑円孔に対しても留意が必要である。
