◆Lacquer cracksとpatchy atrophyはいずれも成因にBruch膜の断裂・欠損が関与している。

◆Lacquer cracksそのもので視機能が低下することは稀であるが，lacquer cracksが発生に関与するとされる近視性脈絡膜新生血管やpatchy atrophyは，視機能障害の原因として重要である。

◆Patchy atrophyは近視進行に伴い経年的に拡大・癒合し，同部位は絶対暗点となる。
