　Dr. Malcolm T. MacEachern had eagerly awaited his trip to Japan. He had considered it a special honor to be chosen for this assignment and looked forward to meeting and consulting with you during his study of the Japanese Hospital system. Unfortunately, death prevented him from ever fulfilling this dream.
　The messages that came to us from Japan after Dr. MacEachern's death indicated the high esteem in which he was held. We know, too, how much his visit was anticipated. Several of your countrymen had been his students in hospital administration at Northwestern University.
