転倒予防を知るための文献

■転倒予防領域の動向
　高齢化社会を迎えている先進国を中心に，高齢者における転倒は，世界的に大きな医療・社会の問題となっている．なかでも長寿かつ超高齢社会であるわが国においては，その対策が喫緊の課題となっている．
　平成25（2013）年人口動態統計の概況（厚生労働省）では，不慮の事故による死亡数を種類別の構成割合でみると，窒息24.5％，転倒・転落19.6％，溺死19.0％，交通事故 15.3％となっており，転倒・転落は第二位で，交通事故よりも多く生じている．なお，溺死の多くが浴槽内への転倒・転落で生じていることから，実際には転倒・転落が占める割合はさらに大きい．また，致死的ではなくても，転倒により生じる外傷，なかでも骨折は深刻な問題となる．その部位にかかわらず，骨折の主要な原因は転倒であり，特に大腿骨近位部骨折は日常生活動作能力と生活の質を大きく低下させる．骨折は，最終的に生活機能の低下を引き起こし，場合によっては要介護状態に陥る．実際，平成25年度国民生活基礎調査の概況（厚生労働省）では，転倒・骨折は脳血管障害，認知症，高齢による衰弱に続いて，主要な要介護の原因となっている．健康寿命を延伸するという点から，転倒・骨折を予防することは極めて重要である．
