要旨　男性における中高年期のテストステロン漸減とそれに随伴する身体的，精神的症状の出現はLOH（late-onset hypogonadism）症候群，いわゆる男性更年期と称され，近年注目を集めている。しかし，男性の加齢に伴う内分泌学的変化には，テストステロン以外にもGH/IGF-1，DHEA-（S）の低下がある。これらホルモンの欠乏症状には，少なからず類似点があり，またいずれもメタボリックシンドロームをはじめとする生活習慣病を引き起こす可能性がある。したがって，このような症例を診療する機会の多い泌尿器科医は，性腺のみならず，下垂体・副腎・甲状腺機能や肥満，高血圧，糖・脂質代謝異常にも十分な関心を払い，内科をはじめとする他の診療科との連携を行うことが肝要となる。
