要旨　前立腺肥大症の外科的治療のなかでも経尿道的前立腺切除術（transurethral resection of the prostate：TURP）は，その有効性に関するエビデンスが最も多く，外科的治療のgold standardであるといえる。各種治療法の有用性についての客観的比較と，長期成績に関する検討はいまだ少ないことから，現時点においてもTURPがgold standardであることに異論はないと考えられる。
