間質性膀胱炎や慢性前立腺炎には線維筋痛症の治療が有効かもしれない

　間質性膀胱炎は，器質的な異常がないにもかかわらず，頻尿，尿意切迫感，下腹部痛や会陰部痛などを引き起こす疾患である。有病率は10万人に10.6人から女性4.5人に1人までと大きな差があり，それは主に診断基準による差である^1）。羞恥心のため，医療機関を受診しない患者が少なくない。たとえ医療機関を受診しても異常なしと診断され，治療法はないといわれる患者も少なくない。疼痛の範囲が会陰部や陰囊部を超えて骨盤全体におよぶと，慢性骨盤痛と診断される。

　一方，線維筋痛症（fibromyalgia：FM）といわれる慢性痛がある。有病率は約2％^2）であるが，その不全型あるいは前段階の慢性広範痛症（chronic widespread pain：CWP）の有病率は，FMを含めると約10％と報告されている^3）。
