要旨　EDは加齢とともに増加し，特に糖尿病・高血圧・脂質異常症などの生活習慣病では，勃起に必要な陰茎血流が不十分のために血管性EDとなる。EDの危険因子として，①加齢，②糖尿病，③高血圧，④脂質異常症，⑤前立腺肥大症，などが挙げられている。高齢者は加齢という危険因子を必ず持っており，そのほかにこれらの疾患を合併することが多く，中～高齢者ではこれらの合併症に対するさまざまな薬剤を服用しており，勃起障害・射精障害などの男性性機能障害をきたす薬剤が含まれることがあるため，薬剤性性機能障害について解説する。また，薬剤性性機能障害のうち，泌尿器科的に緊急処置が必要となる持続勃起症についても解説する。
