要約　加齢によるアンドロゲン低下に起因する臓器機能低下をアンドロゲン補充により予防し，QOLの高い生活を維持させようという背景から，2007年に新しい疾患概念としてLOH（late-onset hypogonadism：加齢男性性腺機能低下）症候群が確立された。ここでは，その疾患概念，診断基準としてのフリーテストステロンとの関係，および本邦で行われた臨床試験の結果を含めた最近の研究動向について概説する。
