メタボリックシンドロームとテストステロン

要約　肥満・過食・運動不足による内臓脂肪蓄積は，アディポネクチンを低下させメタボリックシンドロームや動脈硬化性疾患の原因となるのみならず，テストステロンを低下させ，男性の性機能も悪化させる。また，テストステロンの低下はメタボリックシンドロームや2型糖尿病のリスクとなる。代謝異常者に対するテストステロン補充は，メタボリックシンドロームのリスクを減らしてインスリン抵抗性の改善も得られ，治療法となり得る可能性もある。
