要旨 中高年期では加齢に伴いテストステロンが低下し,その影響は性機能だけでなく,全身に及び,内臓脂肪の増加,睡眠障害,骨減少などを引き起こす。排尿機能も加齢に伴い,その機能障害が起こり,排尿症状,蓄尿症状,排尿後症状が出現し,QOLを低下させる。現在までの研究からテストステロンが下部尿路に何らかの影響がある可能性が示唆されるが,どの程度関与しているかはまだまだよくわかっておらず,不明な点が多い。今後,さらなる臨床試験や基礎実験が望まれる。
