以前の常識

・根治的前立腺全摘除術のスタンダードは，下腹部正中切開による開腹手術と一部のエキスパートによる腹腔鏡下前立腺全摘除術であった．

・根治的前立腺全摘除術では時に輸血を必要とする出血があり，自己血貯血などの対応を要する症例があった．

・性機能温存や尿禁制保持に課題があり，ほかの治療法との選択における大きな要素になっていた．

現在の常識

・根治的前立腺全摘除の主体はロボット支援手術である．

・前立腺全摘除に伴う出血量はきわめて少なく，輸血を必要とすることはごくまれである．

・ロボット支援手術により，尿禁制保持の向上や積極的に性機能温存手術が行われるようになっている．
