■化学放射線療法の主たる目的は術後局所再発の減少である．

■術前化学放射線療法の主な適応は治療前T3，4の下部直腸癌である．

■化学放射線療法を終了したのち，6～10週後にTME（TSME）を伴う手術を行う．
