メタボリックサージェリー

要旨：欧米では重症肥満患者に対する減量手術が多数施行されている．なかでも，減量手術が代謝疾患の改善・治癒に結びつくことが着目され，その術式を体重減少のためでなく代謝疾患の治療に用いるという「メタボリックサージェリー」という概念が近年提唱されている．特に糖尿病に対する高い治癒率が注目されており，一部の国ですでに臨床応用されているものの，現時点では症例数が少なく，基礎的なデータも十分なものとは言えない．欧米と比較すると日本人の2型糖尿病患者はbody mass index（BMI）が低く，メタボリックサージェリーによる恩恵が大きい可能性があるが，日本人に対する臨床応用にはさらなる基礎的・臨床的検討が不可欠である．
