素朴な疑問

　鼠径ヘルニア（以下，ヘルニア）は「あれば手術適応」であり，『標準外科学』（第12版，医学書院）には「根治治療として外科治療を行う」と書かれている．ところが，ヘルニアがあっても放置している人は多く，嵌頓や絞扼を起こして緊急手術になる頻度は意外と低い．無症状のヘルニアに手術を勧めるべきであろうか．
