　海外の論文タイトルを見ると“socioeconomic status”という言葉があり，社会経済格差が大きいアメリカやヨーロッパ諸国には，学歴・所得・職業が病気の転帰や治療成績に影響するかどうかを調べた研究がある．外科の診療やがん治療において，患者の社会経済状態は結果や成績に影響するのだろうか．学歴や所得で手術やがんの死亡率に差があるのだろうか．
