【ポイント】
◆潰瘍性大腸炎およびクローン病を指す炎症性腸疾患は増加傾向にあり，2016年度の集計では潰瘍性大腸炎は167,872人，クローン病は42,789人が特定疾患の給付対象にある．
◆潰瘍性大腸炎は20〜60歳台にかけて幅広い年代でみられ，クローン病は20〜40歳台にピークがみられる．
◆治療の進歩により手術回避可能な症例があるものの，依然手術が必要な場合は多い．一方で腸管の発癌リスクは高く，長期経過例は注意を要する．
