【ポイント】
◆NENは1800年代後半にLanghans，Lubarschらが癌と異なる形態をもつ腫瘍として報告してきたが，1907年にOberndorferが境界明瞭，転移せず，成長緩慢，良性，の特徴をもったカルチノイド（カルチノーマライク）という疾患概念を提唱した．
◆NENはWHO 2000で神経内分泌マーカーを発現する特徴的な病理像を呈する腫瘍の一群と定義され，WHO 2010でKi-67による増殖力による分類，WHO 2019では分化度を加味した分類がなされ，予後に応じたNENの病態分類が進んできた．
◆欧米と本邦では原発部位の分布などが異なることが報告され，これら，近年報告された登録ベースのデータ解析により，全体像が徐々に明らかになってきている．
◆近年の動向を取り入れた本邦におけるガイドライン第2版が2019年度中に出版される予定である．
