【ポイント】
◆頭頸部癌および食道癌はいずれも飲酒・喫煙の影響が強く，多発癌や同時性・異時性重複癌を認める場合が多い．
◆Cancer-boardにおいて各病変の進行度，狭窄や出血の有無，患者の背景因子や栄養状態を考慮し，治療順位を決定していく．また，状況に応じて方針を変更していく柔軟性も求められる．
◆食道外科医としては，咽頭喉頭食道全摘，McKeown手術，Ivor-Lewis手術など患者の状況に応じた様々な術式および周術期管理に精通しておくことが求められる．
